Description Greek. Northern. Classical Period. Kingdom of Macedon. Archelaus (r. 413-399 BC) AR (Silver) stater. Mint of Pella or Aegae. Graded XF 3/5 - 4/5 by NGC; deep cabinet toning and exceptionally original surfaces. Ruler of Macedon during the tail end of the Peloponnesian War, Archelaus greatly strengthened his kingdom's military and economic position, making it a peer of the Greek city-states to the south.
