Description Persian (Achaemenid) Empire. Time of the Greek Classical Period. Artaxerxes III Ochus (r. 359-338) AR (Silver) tetradrachm. Uncertain mint in Caria; struck ca. 350-341 BC. Graded VF 4/5 - 3/5 by NGC; one of the largest types of Persian royal coinage with an impressive portrait of the Great King Artaxerxes III, who conquered back Egypt for the empire. Design: The Great King of Persia (Artaxerxes III), wearing cidaris and candys, advancing right and drawing bow / Persian warrior, wearing cyrbasia, galloping right, thrusting spear Reference: SNG Copenhagen 290-291.
